Hair shedding bad?

My hair was damaged from a straightener back in October and was breaking off and super soft and thin. It got a little better since I've been having it cut so much and got it cut short - chin length and in layers - the shedding had subsided some but it was just hard to do - curly roots - straight yucky hair - I started using just shampoo (no conditioner) since it was so soft that it wouldn't even hold a style. This worked okay for a while but then I went to the dermatologist because I got depressed with my hair being so thin and soft, and he prescribed Capex shampoo 3 times a week and gave me a Corticosteroid shot to increase hair growth. When I use the Capex shampoo (no conditioner), my hair falls out just by rubbing my hands through it when it's wet. I stopped using Capex and now use shampoo and conditioner (just a little) and just have to fight with the softness every morning and use a lot of hairspray and some fluffing up with the brush after spraying. Does Capex cause hair los

Hair grows an average of 5-6" per year. If you had the initial problem in October, your hair should have some new growth to it and shouldn't still be falling out by the roots, or is it breaking at the end of the new growth? Remember also that we loose an average of 100 strands of hair a day, that's a lot! I'd be more concerned with a medical condition. I think I would try an MD and see if you might have an underlying medical problem. If that turns out negative, I'd be seeking retribution from the salon that gave you the faulty straightener. Good luck.

Everyone has some hair loss. When your hair is damaged you will have more hair loss than normal. Keep it short until your new hair growth grows out and the damaged is all cut off. Hair grows about 1/2 inch per month. Get a second opinion if you are worried about the shampoo, but it is probably not that. Sounds like your hair was already damaged.

You poor thing, that's terrible :( I would try googling Capex and see what comes up...you could probably find side effects listed there. Or try WebMD on google...good luck!
